‘Purple Majesty’ is a regal plant that does well in the border, containers, and vase. Standing 4 to 5’ tall, it has a commanding presence in the garden forming a striking backdrop for the bright colored flowers of neighboring plants such as black-eyed Susans or hot pink phlox. ‘Purple Majesty looks a lot like a corn plant but develops up to three stems. It loves heat and sun and, in fact, full sun helps the foliage attain its deepest color. The purple flower spikes attract birds if allowed to ripen in the garden but are beautiful in vase arrangements if cut when immature. Easy to grow with no significant pest or disease problems, ‘Purple Majesty’ it is unique plant that can add a lot to the garden. A 2003 All American Gold Medal and Flower Award Winner.
