Named for the 1930’s cartoon character that was the symbol of the end of the Jazz Age flappers, this colorful rose shares the bright bold look of its name sake. Dark almost black buds open to semi-double flowers that are bright yellow with broad coral edges before the yellow fades to white and the coral fades to crimson. The handsome golden stamens, however, unfortunately turn brown before the colors fade. The bush is floriferous and repeats so quickly that a bed is rarely out of bloom. It is bushy and rounded with dark red new growth that turns dark, glossy green. Although bred in California, ‘Betty Boop’ does well in many climates and is tolerant of rain, heat, and cold. It is a popular exhibition rose.
