The medium pink blossoms with lighter pink edges are carried in clusters of three to nine and often weigh down the branches. The long sepaled flowers have a rosette form, are flat, very full of petals, and sometimes quartered with button eye and quilled petals. Thorny, compact bushes carry dark green leaves that are dull and relatively coarse. Named for the Danish Queen, Maria.
