‘Twinny Peach’ snapdragon is a very unusual snapdragon. It’s flowers don’t resemble the traditional ones in form or color. First, there is no jaw to the flower; instead the flowers are double and described as having the “butterfly” form. The cultivar name ‘Twinny’ refers to the double flowers. The second unusual characteristic of ‘Twinny Peach’ is its color, a peach, yellow and light orange blend that is unique to snapdragons. ‘Twinny Peach’ displayed heat tolerance in the All American Selection trials and was winner of the ASS Bedding Plant Award. Still, don’t expect it to bloom all summer in the South or other areas were summers are hot. Snapdragons are cool weather plants and do especially well in spring and fall where summers are hot. Wouldn’t it be nice if breeders could produce heat-loving snapdragons, and throw in rust resistance too?

Bloom: Spring-fall in cool areas; spring and fall where summers are hot.
Foliage: Medium green, lance-shaped, and a bit sticky.
Size: 12-15” H x 6” W
Light: Full sun to part shade.
Soil: Fertile, moist, well drained.
Care: Remove florets as they fade to encourage flowering; stake tall varieties.
Pests and Diseases: Rust can be a major problem in cool damp weather; also susceptible to leaf blight, mildew, botrytis, wilts, aphids, and spider mites.
Propagation: Seed but buying bedding plants is more practical.
Companion plants: Blue flowered plants such as Savlia farubacea, purple foliaged plants such as purple heart(Tradescantia pallida) and perilla.
Comment: Good cut flower.
